ART AROUND THE CORNER IN ST ANDREWS 25th Feb 2010
YOU may find art where you least expect it in St Andrews. During Scotland's Stanza poetry festival this year an art exhibition: 'Turn the Corner: Art in Unexpected Places' is on show in South Street from March 17 until the 23rd in a series of non-gallery venues.
Among the artists taking part will be Fanny Lam Christie and Tim Fitzpatrick.
'Turn the Corner' has been produced by a team of post-graduate students on St Andrews University’s Museum and Gallery Studies programme in association with Fife Contemporary Art & Craft and StAnza.
An informative guide will be available from participating venues around the town including The Byre Theatre, St Andrews Town Hall in Queen’s Gardens and Millers II in South Street.
Venues in St Andrews University invite the public into spaces they might not usually see, such as St John’s Garden, the Old Class Library at St John’s, and St Mary’s Quad.
'Turn the Corner' takes an innovative approach that allows visitors to look at familiar spaces in new ways and enhances the exploration of the relationship between art and poetry. The artists have chosen poetry and locations that inspire them and their artworks.
