FUN AND DRAMA AT ITS BEST AT THE BYRE
6th Mar 2010

AT 1.30 p.m., the theatre presents the delightfully acrobatic 'tail' of an ordinary mouse. Snuggle in, cosy up in the Lawrence Levy Studio and be entertained by this co-production from Reeling & Writhing and Howden Park Centre. 'If I was a Mouse, I would hide in your Hood' is an enchanting tale of imagination, friendship and discovery told by two performer-puppeteers.

Mouse’s world is brought to life with more than a whisker of fairy tale magic and is suitable for everyone aged three to six (and over).

This evening, at 7.30 p.m., Love and Madness are back at the Byre with more romance and drama in: 'A Taste of Honey' (pictured) directed by Neil Sheppeck.

Shelagh Delaney was just 19 when she wrote the play first performed by Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop in 1958. It transferred to the West End in 1959 and was filmed in 1961.

Jo's relationships with her irresponsible mother, the Nigerian sailor who leaves her pregnant and the gay art student who moves in to take care of her while she waits for the baby to be born, are chronicled in Delaney’s play which has become a modern classic.

There's more passion through stomping Irish songs and music on Tuesday (March 16) when the Friends of the Byre present: 'The Night before St Patrick's Day' at 7.45 p.m. For a true cultural cocktail, there are Scottish Stovies being served.
