CREATIVE OUTLET FOR THOSE WITH AUTISM
19th Jun 2010

PEOPLE affected by Autism and Asperger's Syndrome are being invited to take positive steps to raise awareness of their situation thanks to help from Fife Council's Year of Culture: 'Celebrating Fife'.

'Arts in Autism' is an exhibition and concert by local Fife charity PHAD (People with High Functioning Autism Disorders).

About one per cent of the population has an Autism Spectrum Disorder. In Fife that equates to 660 children and young people and about 2600 adults who are affected.

PHAD offers a range of different areas of support for individuals with High Functioning Autism and Asperger's Syndrome creating opportunities for them and their families to get together with others and share experiences. The charity also aims to help with activities which give them a feeling of belonging, being accepted and valued.

'Arts in Autism' an exhibition and concert, is at Rothes Halls in Glenrothes on November 11. For further details email lottiefarmer@googlemail.com.
