NPH SATELLITE PERFORMANCE FOR CLASSICAL RIEU 6th Jul 2010
NPH Cinema St Andrews is taking part in a live satellite performance by classical superstar André Rieu (pictured) one of the world’s most successful artists.
On Tuesday, July 20, the North Street venue will be one of a select number of cinemas all over Europe broadcasting the July 2010 instalment of Rieu's renowned: 'Live In Maastricht' concert.
Arts Alliance Media, Europe’s leading alternative content provider, is bringing the event via satellite to cinemas in 27 countries.
The 7.30pm concert (which includes an interval) is being captured live, and will be delivered to cinemas in countries including the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Czech Republic, and Hungary for a special one-night-only performance.
A musical phenomenon, André Rieu is unlike anything else in the entertainment world, said a NPH spokesman.
“Music fans can expect the experience of a lifetime when they witness the only classical concerts where the audience jump to their feet and dance in the aisles. André Rieu is the highest-charting classical instrumentalist of all time, having topped the Billboard Hot Tour rankings with his sold-out World Stadium Tour last year.”
Performed in front of thousands of fans in the open air in André Rieu’s home town of Maastricht, the lavish concerts feature the star’s famous 50-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra performing crowd-pleasing music against some of the most elaborate and expensive sets ever seen.
Conducting the Johann Strauss Orchestra with his violin bow – just like the composer himself – Rieu’s onstage charisma and rock-star demeanour will make this cinema event irresistible for fans who can experience the NPH show in pristine digital cinema quality.
m NPH has a wide variety of films for summer, from the continuing 'Shrek Forever After 3D' (U) to 'Inception' (12A) and The Twilight Saga Eclipse (12A) to Toy Story 3 3D (U) in the coming week. For more details visit the cinemas website www.nphcinema.co.uk
