FOUR YEAR OLD FRIENDS FROM ST ANDREWS HELP FIGHT CANCER Published: 3rd Jul 2010
FOUR-year-old Sophie Cuthill, who lives near St Andrews, has impressed everyone with her determination to do her bit in the fight against cancer after losing her grandad and uncle to the disease.
Having tackled the Cancer Research Race for Life in Dundee at the age of three last year, along with her trusty Labrador Brackle, then also aged three, she couldn't wait to do it again.
This year, she and her mum Lucy were joined by brother William and Brackle, who was decked out in a fetching pink tee shirt.
So far the family has raised more than £500 for Cancer Research but there's still time to visit their www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/lucycuthill page if you want to help.
Says Sophie: “We choose to give money to help the doctors do an even better job and so that people don't die like Grandpa Bill and Uncle Anthony did."
Later Lucy said the family had had a fantastic day: “Sophie and Brackle walked every step of the way in 90 minutes and William was on my back adding to our fun with his running commentary!
"We were second last, so have moved up a place since last year. Daddy was super-back up, producing walking refreshments half way round and then a superb picnic lunch to greet us as we crossed over the line. A huge thank you all our supporters for making it possible for us to achieve our grand total.”
