OPEN CHAMP TAKES CLARET JUG TO BED WITH HIM Published: 20th Jul 2010
OPEN CHAMP Louis Oosthuizen went to bed on Sunday evening with the famous Claret Jug next to him he confessed this week.
The South African who credits the Ernie Els Foundation for setting him on the road to the Old Course and the 150th Anniversary Open Championship at St Andrews told reporters the morning after his victory on Sunday that he didn't want to let go of the trophy.
“It was good," he said. "I mean, I put it next to my bed last night and after my friends and everyone had it and I woke up this morning and I looked at it, you know, and I immediately grabbed the phone and texted Chubby Chandler, my agent, saying:'I've got this funny old jug next to my bed.' Man, Oh, Man. So you know that was special waking up next to it. It was good.”
